i refuse to get sick.
So the other day I was talking about how I haven’t been sick in at least 11 months and was quite impressed with myself. And how the only times I ever get sick, it’s when my mom is also sick, no matter if I’m around her at the time or not. Luckily I come from a family with healthy immune systems and she is rarely sick either. But when I talked to her last night she said she had been sick all day. I joked that I had better get off the phone as she was probably sending her sickness through the phone to me. We laughed. Haha. Funny right? And then I woke up this morning with the start of a sore throat and an achy body. Seriously? 11 months without getting sick and I’m sick the day after my mom is? But after having several glasses of Emergen-C, lots of green tea, chicken noodle soup from Panera, and many vitamins, I think I’m going to beat this thing off before it gets me hardcore. I am determined to not get sick.
In other news, who knew finding a job would be so difficult? When I first quit my job last February, I figured I’d freelance for a few months and then find a new job. Umm yeah. Now it’s December and I’m almost done with graduate school. And I still have no “real” job. It greatly concerns me that I constantly get e-mails from companies finding my resume on Monster.com who believe I would be an excellent fit for their customer service positions. Really? Having my undergrad degree (summa cum laude in 3.5 years) and a Master’s degree makes me a good fit for customer service? God help me. And then today I got the kicker. “You are a perfect fit for our position as Sales Associate at Yankee Candle.” Sweet! Seriously looks like I might end up there at the rate I’m going. I hope they give good employee discounts.
Annnd somehow the Patriots seem to do it every single time. Even if it’s in the last 50 seconds. Wow. I kind of think they just like to give us a good, intense game once in a while since we tend to complain that we are bored by the great amount of points they win by. I seriously feel really stressed out after watching that game. I think I might go down some more vitamins, hit the sheets, and catch up on my New Yorkers. Or maybe Glamour. In bed a bit after 12:30 a.m.? I think this is some kind of record. We’ll see what time I fall asleep…
I got a Beauty Rush Appletini lotion for free with my Victoria’s Secret order and it smells soooooooo good. I’m a huge fan of the grapefruit one, but this is yummy. I love apple scented things, but usually red apples, not green. Once again, I’m not sure why I want to smell like I giant fruit, but sometimes I do. Especially when I’m snuggled in bed. Yay.

lord, I’ve been fighting off a bug for a week now.. every time I think I have it beat, i wake up and it’s back. But at least my cold was acquired solo… no voodoo-sickness from my mom!
ps, I’m all about fruit scents too.. florals are a little aged for me

The Pats game stressed me too. But, I suspect that we were hoping for very different outcomes.
Feel better!

There’s something magical about the chicken soup at Panera. I felt a little off last week, so I bought a container of the biggest size, and I was perfectly healthy the next day. I’m so glad there’s one in Coolidge now.

That’s Murphy’s Law for ya. As soon as you say something won’t happen to you–BAM!–it does.
Don’t forget about the Yankee Candle employee discount! That’s one thing I miss about high school mall jobs, although you just end up spending all your money at work. You can never have too many candles.
I prefer my women to smell more like a whorehouse than a fruit, but that’s just personal preference.

Oh no, I hope you feel better! Maybe you can use this as a great excuse to go to Panera more often. I am in love with their soups. Heck, you could get a job there too! Just kidding. I know how hard it is to find a new job, I’m in the midst of it too.

Yah- that game was RIDICULOUS last night. Of course, I wanted them to win so that they can go undefeated until their game against the Giants and then lose, but.. that’s just me.
I love candles. Please keep me updated on your employment status with Yankee Candle, haha.

What an intense game! I couldn’t NOT stay up for it. I’m suprisingly chipper today, which is random. When the Sox were playing the late games I wanted to shoot myself the next day. I’m more of a baseball girl so that had me more pumped, I guess.
Hope you feel better!

Hope you don’t get sick. Everyone in my office and my brothers have caught something that I am praying I do not get! Vitamins and sleep! Good luck!

I am sorry you are sick – it stinks becasue you have been well for so long
I am sure once you are out of grad school you will find a great job – so many companies try to lure you in when you’re overqualified – just take a breth and apply even to those places you don’t think you’ll get because the only difference between the person who got the job adn the one who didn’t is that the one person applied!

1. I finished Eat, Pray, Love last night too.

Hmmm…coincidence?

Job searching is soul sucking, even when you aren’t sick. Keep at it, lots of companies hire right after the new year!
Or, just share your candle discount with your blog readers!

I also love smelling like giant fruit. And apparently candy too. Some man on the subway told me I smelled like cotton candy the other day. Um, thanks?
And I love the Pats. I almost had a heart attack last night, but they pulled it off thank god. Crossing my fingers for Sunday.
